For anyone that has been involved with the MLM industry for any length of time you will know how much of an arduous struggle it can be. It’s a fact that 95% of the people who get involved with this industry usually end up spending more than they make! This is what happened to me in my early days.
I first got involved with a health & vitamin company about 7 years ago and whilst I did make some money from selling the products on the internet I was never able to recruit a strong downline. I spent a lot of my time on non productive activities such as chasing my friends and family, desperately trying to convince them that my opportunity could make them rich, even knowing full well that it wasn’t working for me.
Are You an ‘Opportunity Hopper’?
Many folks in this industry are ‘opportunity hoppers’ they hop from one opportunity to the next hoping that the next one they join will make their dreams come true. Look, the network marketing business model is without a doubt the most powerful method on the planet for building wealth but you have to stick with it and MASTER the techniques and principles that drive people to take action.
By just moving onto another opportunity you will carry the old problems with you and that problem is that you don’t know how to properly recruit the right people into your organisation.
Of course you need to work with a company that sells products that people actually want but more importantly a product that people NEED. You need to ask yourself the question, if the product did not have a compensation plan attached to it would they still buy it? If the answer is ‘no’ then you would be well justified in moving to a different company.
You also need to consider how you will build your business, do you have a large database of business contacts and people that you could share your opportunity with? Most people starting in this industry won’t, so they very quickly run out of people to talk to and an mlm business with no leads is NEVER going to get off the ground.
This was a big problem for me in the beginning and for the next 5 years I floundered around with offline methods such as leaflets drops, handing out those annoying opportunity cards and cold calling. Whilst being at the point of quitting and succumbing to the fact that I would be stuck in a JOB (Just Over Broke) for the rest of my life I had the bright idea of building my business on the internet.
It made sense as instantly I have a database of potentially millions of leads, but like many people who turn to the internet I was still banging my head against a brick wall as I didn’t know how to market online.
I’ve spent a large amount of money on various training courses and materials to learn internet marketing and I can tell you that it DOES work, provided you are willing to put in the manual labour necessary to get your business to take off. There’s no doubt that you can’t rely completely on the internet to build an mlm business because we all know that mlm is a people’s business, it’s all about networking.
But by using online systems and the technology that is available today I have been able to build an impressive downline in my company in a very short space of time.
